BLUETOOTH PAIRING on a '05 X5

Hi, I just bought my 1st X5 today. It is a 2005 3.0d. As I have read it should be equipped with bluetooth. I don't have the phone cradle yet but I think I can still use it without it. I have tried everything I found on this forum about BT pairing and nothing works. I have pressed the R/T button on the steering wheel and nothing happens, I have also turned the key to OFF and then to the 1st or 2nd position and nothing happens either! can someone help me out? Is there another way to do this? Is there an easy way to know that my x5 is bluetooth ready as the salesman told me? The problem is that I live in south america where bluetooth technology is very new and few people are aware of it. By the way the salesman mentioned that the x5 had bluetooth I could tell he didn't even know what it was.

Thanks in advance.

If you have Bluetooth installed, you will find that you have a button inside the lid of your centre console armrest that looks just like the call button on your steering wheel.

You should also have a telephone/bluetooth User Manual in amongst all your guides/service log etc. Open the cover and you should see a sticker with the security code for your Bluetooth.

Grab your phone and go to (depending on the model) connections>bluetooth>search for devices or whatever your instructions say and get it ready to search.

Press the button in the console for 3 seconds, then turn the ignition key from 0 to position 1, and hold button down for another 3 seconds, then release.

"BLUETOOTH PAIRING" will come up in whatever display you have whereby it will search for your phone. Activate the searching on your phone and the two shall meet.

Your phone will ask for the security code which you enter, then "PAIRING SUCCESFUL" should be displayed in the car. Turn the key back to 0 position and next time you start it up the car will automaticaly pair with your phone.

You should automatically have access to the phone book.

To voice dial, hold the Talk button on the steering wheel down for a few seconds until you hear a beep. Say the words "DIAL NUMBER" and then read out the number in small groups using a clear voice. If you get it wrong use the word "CORRECTION" which will erase the last group of numbers, then re-enter.

Say the words "DIAL" or "DIAL NUMBER" when the number is right and use as per normal.

The above supposes that a) you really have bluetooth, and b) that you have a compatible phone.

That is a whole 'NOTHER subject.

Cheers

Hello,

I also have 05' X5 with my bluetooth phone and pretty sure bluetooth option is a standard option from 05'
there is no pairing button at the center console armrest, and no need to press button for 3 seconds.
just use your phone. go to bluetooth menu from your phone and run search.
then your phone will find BMWXXXXX, chose it and it will ask you the passkey.
that's how I use my bluetooth phone with my X5.
and also, take a look here.

hope it works!

If you have MY05 and Premium Package, you've got BT.

Alx, what brand of phone, phone model number, and carrier are you using? Not all "Bluetooth" phones will work with BMW's ULF.
