another ext warranty question..

I have search about extended warranty and come up with the most famous Warranty Direct as a favorite. However, I have been offered a reasonable quote from Auto One Warranty http://www.autoonewarranty.com/default.html

Anyone have any experience with this company?

I have a full comprehensive coverage for 4 Years or 114,000 miles.
24/7 Roadside Asst.
$100.00 Deductible
Any dealer/shop of my choice
Priced at $3403.00 - $178.02/Month 0% Financing for 18 months after a $195.00 down.

Thanks,
Rod

A quick web search turned up this story, linked below, with the
nasty part C&P'd below...it may be just an anecdotal slam. Or,
there could be some funny biz beneath their web site veneer...

I have no pump for WD, (other than I have it and the one small
claim was handled in mins and with no prob.) As you saw, many
of us here have WD, and some of us are quite satisfied.

When most of the aftermkt "warranty" companies bit the dust in
the past few years, and up pops one with a real "deal", it is either
cause for elation or, concern. Maybe some others will have some
real world experience for you. Good luck in your decision...

The nasty section of the story, naming Auto One:

"Auto One is located in Irvine, Calif., and is a subsidiary of Credexx, a loan consolidator. It caught the attention of the Better Business Bureau last year due to the high number of complaints about its warranty expiration notices and difficulty processing claims. The Bureau rated the company an F.

According to Bureau records, the president of Auto One is David Tabb, 41, a man with a history of dicey consumer practices. Another of Tabb's companies, Hollywood Dreams, was listed at an address next door to Auto One. Hollywood Dreams was a company used as a front for selling sports and Hollywood memorabilia with forged signatures. In 2002 Tabb pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and one count of tax evasion for his part in a scam to sell the forged merchandise. According to the indictment filed in U.S. District Court, Tabb arranged to meet an undercover federal agent at a Chevron gas station in Irvine to sell him basketballs and other sporting items with forged signatures and fake certificates of authenticity. He continued to sell undercover feds forged merchandise, usually in parking lots, over the next year. Tabb did not respond to messages left at his last known home number or Auto One offices."

The site I found that story on:

^^..wow, i guess i'll just have to be a ginuea pig for this and test my luck. If all goes well, I will let you all know, and if not I'll let you know as well and admit I'm an idiot for not researching prior to purchasing. I just hope that all those issues have been addressed since the company is still in business. Wish me luck as I will need it. Thanks for the "fair" warning.

I browse through BBB website and came accross this, which gives a little hope.

Fidelity is the one I've heard the most about and would strongly consider.

After reading several reviews I decided to go with Car Chex and bought a warranty from Royal Administration Services. I'm sure glad that I bought the extended warranty, it may have been the best decision I did. As after 4 months of driving the "X", I started having the infamous tranny problems. The warranty company paid for the replacement and I'm back on the road.

On the X5, I have Tech Serv which was recommended and also sold by my local Audi dealer. I added the "electronics pack" to the coverage (which covers stereo and nav) and their premium was still better than others. Because of the finicky air suspension on the 4.8is, it has paid for itself so far.

On my Audi S4 I have an Audi extended warranty which is actually backed by Fidelity. I have heard they are pretty good but I cannot verify since I have not had to use it so far. The coverage is a bit less than the Tech Serv though, headlights and navigation are not covered.

Select a few reputable companies and then compare premium and coverage.
