You need to provide ALL of your vehicle information before anyone can answer your question.

I am wondering the same thing. I have an 05 4.4i equipped with Sat radio, and VCF. I want to do a NAV retrofit but I am not sure what else I am going to need besides the screen and the dvd player in back.
There is a blue plug tucked behind my CD changer with a jumper plug conected to it. Is this for the nav? I was thinking that this car was prewired is this true? What else to I need? I looked at the posts on the home page but they all were upgrades from previous year models... Thanks.. |

16:9 screen monitor MK4 DVD Computer Radito Tuner BM53 Nav Harness GPS Antenna I have done the retrofitting myself on my e46 but my X comes with it already. You're looking at about more than $2K to spend. OEM setup IMO is better and doesnt look awkward in your dash but just limited in features. |

Its quite the task in time and $ to do an OEM retrofit....here ya go
http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...system-x5.html Not worth it IMO...get your fav. flavor stick-on navi, or you could replace head unit with an after market unit like the Pioner AVICZ1 or alternative. FWIW, my M has OEM navi. and I still use the Garmin Nuvi when I go on long trips - the BMW system is archaic. Last edited by Boston X5 4.4; 07-03-2008 at 11:21 AM. |

I have wiring already in the 05 for the Nav system no? I understood that it was already "prewired" for nav. It has to be as most of the items in the above installation are alreaduy present on my vehicle. iE Sat radio, VCF, CD changer, and there is a blue connector in the back that looks a lot like the one pictured in the items above. Has anyone added nave to an 04-06 X5? judging by what I have seen on Ebay I am only looking at less than 1000.oo for the head unit and the dvd drive. IF I am preiwred, which I am sure it is. Then Al I need ( I'm thinking ) is a gps tap to an antenna, and speed detection correct? Now that i think of it, BMW assist lady the other day told me exactly where I was and how fast I was driving.. she wouldn;t have known thins unless she had a GPS read on me so I know the basic compnents are already present... Anyone want to shed a little light on the subject? Thanx... |
