Joined the FSR replacement club
My Final Stage Resistor finally went kaput. The fan has been oscillating intermittently during the past few months, so I figured it's about time and luckily ordered a replacement FSR a few weeks ago. I could not have done it without the help of the article from this site. Thank You X5WORLD.
The DIY did not went as smoothly as I had hope because the glove box had to come out. The longer vanes of the original FSR (see picture) prevented it from being removed with the glove box in place. One thing that I've noticed during the glove box removal process is that you need to first remove the interior glove box light before you can yank out the glove box. The DIY article seems to assume that both the glove box and light come out as a unit, which wasn't the case for me.
Hopefully, with the shorter vanes of the replacement unit, the next FSR replacement will be much simpler! I'm crossing my fingers that the replacement unit is a better design unit that will last longer than the original 4 years.
