Auto locking of doors as you move off

I've lived with this feature activated on my previous Explorer for the past 6 years, it annoys me that the X does not lock itself.

Can this feature be set DIY by the owner?

In fact you can have more than automatic locking programming in the mean time.

Note, that if you choose to have tha auto-lock feature enabled, the doors do not unlock automatically. You will have to hit the central locking button everytime or double-pull the door handle to exit.

That's the same situation now after I manually hit the central locking button to lock all the doors once I get moving.

I just want to make sure that I don't forget to lock the doors. I have a teenage daughter who literally wants to "hit the mall running"... has this habit of trying to open the car door even before I finish parking.....urgh...kids these days!... wonder how long it will take her to discover the "double pull" thing.

should be free if your X is still under the new car warranty...

THANKS! you said the magic word ("FREE").

I just called the local dealer (not the one I bought it from). While my appointment is not until next week, it appears they are more than happy to program the central locking and replace the broken cup holder clips under warranty!

I had this done on my x by the dealer and some other reprogramming as well and it was free of charge. I don't understand how any dealer would charge someone $$ for something that they should do more often. The only thing is most owners don't know that they can request this feature.

I had mine auto lock all doors after the car hits 5mph.
