The chrome plate at the towbar is to stop, when reversing, the hitch hitting the bumper. That's a fixed towbar.

What's with the scotch stabilizer what are you towing ? an older van? it looks new so I take it you put it on.

Yup. That is what I did on my 02 E53 X5 3.0d euro. Definitely an improvement.

no i have a new caravan its 24f long but i got the stabilizer free so i wanted to use it loads of people have said its an over kill on this car. paul

so your using the alko hitch on the van and the stablizer

don't think that will work well together.

Is it a twin axle van

yes but in this case it's short for caravan i.e your towing the van
