Door Ajar Light

I replaced the window regulator on my front passenger window and the window works but I now have a new problem. The "door ajar" light stays on even though the door is closed. The lock won't open or close with the key or the door lock button on the center console but works manually.

Another problem is once I take the key out of the ignition the windows won't go up or down like they did before. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing the problems?

What year is your X? I'm thinking it might be a bad lock actuator which is a common malady.

I've got a 2001 (8/00 build) 3.0. Do you have a part number for the actuator? I'll check realoem.com for the part number but last time I checked it didn't have much information regarding the door. Thanks in advance.

Ok. I have an 01 as well, 11/00 build, and I had the driver's door actuator replaced. It's not something I'd personally fool around with, I hate anything invloving removing door panels, I'd recommend you take it to the dealer for a proper diagnosis before moving on it.

I don't have the part #, but from time to time I see an actuator on ebay. In the meantime, try this:

Thanks for the help. I'm not afraid to open the door panel, I changed the window regulator myself. I just want to diagnose the problem before I rip open the panel again. Thanks once again.

Well logic would suggest that if it was fine before you took off the door panel and replaced the regulator, something got messed to do with the locks in the process. Just check your work in there to see if something accidently happend.

Solved the problem. I originally thought a fuse blew or the controller got screwed up. Turns out it was a loose connector (white not black) in the door switch controller. Everything seems to be working. Thanks for all of the advice.
