New to the X5 Need some Answers

Hi All,

finally seems found a great forum, I am a new X5 owner 2004 3.0i.
First question is that there is an antenna like a cell antenna sticking behind the rear view mirror, what is it? WHAT purpose does it provide?

secondly I have gone through the forum and a lot of postings, just want to know if want to connect a phone to the built in system what are the options? bluetooth?? anyone dones anything with a 2004 (my built year seems to be Dec 03).

Thanks for your suggestions,

Dane.

With a 12/03 built X5 your only option is to remove the Assist module and install the Visteon Bluetooth module instead. Here is an article on what is involved in that process - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=23

Here's a listing of the ULF part numbers - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...icle&artid=171

I'm not sure what the cell antenna sticking behind the rear view mirror may be. Can you post a pic of what this looks like?

:welcome: to X5world

Congratulations on your new purchase. Please post pics. Also, welcome to the board. This IS, indeed a great place for everything X5 -- and then some (check out the Lounge). Hope you become a regular.

Again, welcome.

Juan

Are you sure it's an antenna wire and not just wiring for the rain sensor and other electronic gizmos that are are there in the mirror mount?
