i figured. I cant see how Land Rover with notorious service and using a BMW transmission is covering this under recall but BMW is not. This is honestly a liability. If I turning left crossing traffic there could be some serious injuries. Just POs me. The BMW of the 90 (and mercedes) were so much more dependable. I have owned BMWs and Mercedes and only purchased the Rover since it was basically a BMW which was a mistake. Is is me or is BMW reminding some of good ol Jaguars. Nice, beautiful, fun to drive but not worth the headache. might just have to look into buying my first lexus
. One can only take so much.

You only hear of the problems. I will tell you the two X5's I currently own, have needed less repairs then any of the other Vehicles I have owned.
That list includes: 1987 F150 1988 Mustang GT 1991 Jetta 1995 Mustang LX 1998 Jeep Wrangler 1960 Thunderbird 1990 Saab 900s 2001 Jetta Wagon So here's one for BMW instead against them. BTW the 2001 4.4 X5 has 139,000, the 2006 4.4 X5 has 30,000 miles on them

I know. It hasnt been a terrible car. Really only left me down twice in 5 years but this is major. My beef is that I expect more from them than I do my other vehicles especially with something that can cause serious injury and when Land Rover using the same Transfer case recalls the case.
I also own a 1998 H1 4 Man hummer. I expect that thing to give me headaches. Same with my RR. Just the way BMW is handling things POs me. Any advise on where to find good reman transfer cases? I saw a couple of links on different post but none really active.

The transfer cases are made in the US. You should be able to go to a trans shop to get it repaired. There was a string as few months ago where I described who to figure which T case you have. I'l try to find it. You either have an New Venture (New Process) or a Borg Warner. The round tag will tell you. Any trans shop will be able to buy the parts from the distributer with the number on the transfer case.
Here it is: http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...=transfer+case
