Need advise on repairs

I just got back from the dealer and they quoted me $1000 to replace both outer CV boots and another $1000 for valve cover gaskets, which blows my mind. Does anyone know of a good independent shop in MA? Perhaps RI or CT

Thanks
JD

Has anyone had the following work done at a dealer or local shop - if so, which one and how much did it cost.

1. Valve cover gaskets
2. Outer CV Boots
3. Oil Seperator

Thanks
JD

JD,
Here are four in MA that a friend recommends. I'm under stealer warranty so haven't gone to them yet for anything other than an oil/filter change.

Autobahn Automotive
127A W. Central St, Natick, MA • 800-228-8136

Landshark Automotive
24 South Ave, Natick, MA • 508-655-3957

Schneller Motoren Technik BMW
26 Middle Rd Unit 1, Newbury, MA • 978-465-2002

Turner Motorsport
16 Hunt Road South
Amesbury, MA, USA 01913
PHONE: 978 388-7769

These are pretty high end indies so they may not be a whole lot cheaper than the stealership. For the work that you need done - CV boots - it is not difficult, jut labor/money intensive so I would try and find a cheaper indie. Maybe someone on this forum can pipe in with a cheaper indie rec.? ...or you could post your question on the Boston Chapter of BMWCAA.

Good luck

No, I seem to remember that this problem was worse or only happened with pre-04 models but could be wrong.
