insturment panel lights problem

2002 3.0 X5...LOVE HER

So last night my BF was driving her when the radio shut off. Then he realized that the display for the stereo is not working and it will not turn on. Then noticed that the turn signals work outside the car but nothing.. no lights no noise.... in side the car. I noticed that the auto lights just come on always not dependant of the daylight outside and when i did a dignostic check with the dash button.. you know that little read out in the center past the steering wheel...nothing

what is happening ...is it a fuse that i have just not found yet
has anyone else seen this

HELP

Thanks

Sounds like the problem I had. required a new LKM. You'll need a dealer to pull fault codes relating to the LKM from the "Dash Memory" module.
In my case the LKM was replaced under CPO and all costs including the 18 hour reprogramming were covered by the warranty.

LKM = Light Kontrol Module. You cannot read the codes without the dealer computer. They are not OBD II codes but module fault codes relating to the OEM modules.
All the symptoms you expressed occurred but it would not "come on and stay on" until the vehicle had been about 3 days with the dealer. They was not aware of LKM codes being stored in the Dash module. The LKM costs $500 or so and has to be programmed to the vehicle. Most DIYers do not have the equipment to do this. It is mounted on the passenger side wheel arch inside the vehicle somewhere around the glove box area.

I got an Exide with pro-rated warranty 4 years ago and it is, so far, still going strong. Cost around $90 fitted.
I sure hope that cures your problem!

I hope that is what it is too
i am going to call battery plus and see what they have
exide may be good i may do the optima cause my X usually sits all summer while i drive the summer fun car but the duratech comes with the vent attachment .. i need to check that out too

i saw somewhere that i can go up to the 4.4i speck battery on my 3.0i
do you think it would be better to get a bigger battery just for the hell of it

i use this vehical for camping sometimes so it could come in handy
