insturment panel lights problem

2002 3.0 X5...LOVE HER

So last night my BF was driving her when the radio shut off. Then he realized that the display for the stereo is not working and it will not turn on. Then noticed that the turn signals work outside the car but nothing.. no lights no noise.... in side the car. I noticed that the auto lights just come on always not dependant of the daylight outside and when i did a dignostic check with the dash button.. you know that little read out in the center past the steering wheel...nothing

what is happening ...is it a fuse that i have just not found yet
has anyone else seen this
