I got my '93 Range Rover tinted in the front windows to 50% and it cost me about $80.00. The Rangie had all the window tinted to about 32% (I thought, it was from FL). One night my wife, 3yr old, and i got pulled over by a HWY state trooper on X-mas eve. She tested the front window and said that only 6% light was coming in and gave a warning and she would drop the ticket if i took down the tint (150 ticket). When i park the 93 Rangie next to my X it seems a lot darker then the factory tint in the back of the X.

Does anyone know what the % is for the factory tint.

It was cool when i bought the X the PO (1 owner) even kept the window sticker w/ all the options on the X in the owners manual!!! It states it has the deep tint...if that means anything. I will still get the window to match the back. It just does not look good w/ the back tinted only.

i wanna say that the backs are 35% , cause when i did the front 2 windows in 20 % the front was much darker !! i had them lay 50% on top of the factory tint in the back !! and now it more or less matches !!

my new 4.8 i told them to do the same !!

Red face ooops

A Correction:
My price was 120.00 inclusive for the front two. This was for film by Llumar which includes a 3 year scratch warranty and lifetime against color change or fading. Llumar is a top of the line film.
This particular co. has discontinued their exact match for the dark fact. tint up for X5's prior to '04 (I think it was 04). Apparently BMW adjusted their specs a few years ago.
There are other films producers which can match the colors and shade perfectly, but don't offer that kind of warranty. At least that I could find.
