The one in question here probably didn't know there were different tail lights on each side of a production split, with the update, and most likely degisned the tail lights to work with a newer E53. I would try to find some that actually offer different tail lights depending on year... then you know they did some research on the differences.

i got my LED tail lights from zomk speed of ebay and i dont have any problem with it.

I have the same issue! On late december 2002 model E53! have anybody solved this? My brakelights only illuminate when i push the brake pedal!
