Just bought a 03 X5 3.0i , need suggestion
i just bought a 2003 X5 with 85000 miles, it is in great condition! I just wanna know from you experts if is better to do a insurance on this car with this mileage , the one offered by the dealer it cost around $1500 for a 2 years/24,000 miles that cover engine , automatic transmission , drive axle and seals and gaskets , or a total care at $3200 ( 2 yrs/ 24,000 miles) that is almost a bumper to bumper insurance (not included exterior metal , upholstery , trim and normal maintenance items). What do you suggest? Thanks a lot! |

Most of us that have gotten an extended warr. here, have gone for something less than bumper to bumper...
Couple key points, that you didn't describe: be aware of the specific exclusions in the fine print and, is this ext warr. that your local dlr is humping, usable at other dlrs/independent shops? There are dozens of "extended warranty" companies floating around; there are barely of handful of good, legit ones, based upon anecdotal info posted on this and other boards. But, for $750 a year, (assuming you will drive ~12K per year), it does offer some comfort, esp. if a trans or something major, goes out. GL,mD

Warranties never cover wear and tear items (like brakes). The OEM free maintenance program is the one that cover some wear and tear items and most people often confuse this free maintenance program with the vehicle's warranty. It's two totally separate programs.

![]() i bought the car at a Volvo dealer (the owner is a friend of my brother in law and he made a really good price) and he was offering me a insurance called Easycare . Actually i don't know if it is good or not , i'm in the us just since last year ![]() my main concern is about the age and mileage of the car. maybe for $60 a months it might be a good deal to have the insurance, right? Panda,
Yeah, for the small monthly cost, it's probably a good value, esp at that mileage you might have some issues. EasyCare site: http://www.easycare.com/ You might read the fine print to see "exclusions"... And, a handydandy list of auto warranty companies, some of whom have made that site's warning list. EasyCare has no anecdotal gripes, fwiw. GL,mD Auto Warranty Companies List: http://www.autowarrantyreviews.org/complete.htm GL,mD |
