Emission Test Not Ready
my wife just bought a 2006 X5 4.4i and I was trying to get the emissions test done today. Problem is that the computer rejected the test saying "Not Ready". We did about 500 miles of highway driving since we bought the car. Does anybody know what kind of driving this car needs to get it ready for emissions testing? Thanks -Heiko |

Here in GA there is a 3-year grace period before you have to start doing emissions test, so for this year 2005 and older would need testing. 2006, 2007, and 2008 are exempt.
Maybe that is what it meant by "not ready", but if this is the case in your state then I would have thought the tester would have known that. Could also be the previous owner has already had it done this year.

Sounds like, for whatever reason, your OBD II computer would not interface with the test computer. May require a trip to a dealer or well equipped indy to check the OBD II computer side of things.
