Didn't install the one from Bimmian but it's the same as the OEM one from the dealer

I have a small writeup at http://www.janixworld.com/x5/DoorLock/

You don't need to remove the door panel if you only want to install the cover but retain the lock cylinder (the cover simply slides off/on after removing the
little screw behind the black plastic cover on the inside of the door).

Another potential downside: if you park near a large cell tower or other source of certain radio interference, the remote may not work at all. Happens to me 90% of the time I park at my local grocery store (right across the street form a huge AT&T tower complex). Every time it does, I am thankful that I haven't done this modification as I lock/unlock the old fashioned way.

It happens in NYC ALL the time, happened with my '99 Tahoe, happens with my '04 Z06, happened with my '01 X5 4.4, and it happens with my '04 4.4i. It seems to happen with more regularity the closer you park to the Empire State Building and before 9/11, close to the WTC.
