Question Flared fenders...

I love the look of the flared rear wheel-well fenders on the 4.8, and I was thinking of getting them fitted to my '05 4.4 along with the alum. running boards.
The question is, does anyone have the flared fronts too? (If so, any pics?)
I know they're available, but I'm not sure whether I'd want to go flared at all 4 corners, or just stick with the flares in the back...
Any thoughts?

Good topic!I am assumming that you also have the 4.8 bobykit!Like some of us who dont have 4.6/4.8 ,I have the bodylkit and the 20s but we dont have the fender flares!!!!This is obviously a matter of preference, but with the wider
flares push the wheel inwards and some of us then fit the wheel spacers to bring the wheel in line with the fender again. Not sure, which lookks better !With or without the flares? Now,if your car is lowered, the flares look better!interesting TO FIND OUT WHAT THE OPINION OF OUR MEMBERS IS.Meanwhile lookk at the photos and decide for yourself(the green car is my 3.OD with the kit but not the flares.....All the best.

I actually don't have the 4.8 body kit. I like it, but I'd prefer to keep my X without it - mainly because I think the front and rear ground effects detract a bit from the rugged look of the X, and they probably reduce the approach/departure agles somewhat too.
But I do like the flares. (Even if they make the wheels look like they're sunk into the body another 1/2 inch, or so) I was thinking about trying some wheel spacers, but I haven't heard of anyone using them on an X... Are there any disadvantages/advantages to spacers other than looks?

If you are thinking about adding the fender flares for the rear, keep in mind that there are actually 2 pieces of flares on each side of the rear. The upper piece can be ordered to fit the alum running boards, or without (in this case, it's just the standard 4.6is or 4.8is rear fender flares). the lower piece actually attaches to the rear bumper. You will have to either dremel the holes onto the bumper to fit this piece, or have to get the whole bumper (not sure which). Look at LeMansX5 pic of the rear and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I didn't know about 2 separate pieces... I only have 1 part number for each fender (51 71 7 051 035 /6/7/8)
Does that mean that the rear flared fender kit with running boards won't fit properly unless you get the 4.6/4.8 rear ground effects (or do some tweaking w/ a dremel)?

Getting back to my question about fitting the alum. running boards and rear flares w/o the 4.8 rear ground effects... Uncle Tito, do you have any more info on what's required? Would there be problems with front flares w/o the 4.8 front bumper?

guys, sorry is this has been answered but I'm a little confused here:

Do I or Do I not need the fender flares when installing the running boards? I hear yes and no, and I hear yes if you have a 4.8is and no if 4.4, etc....what's the deal??

Also, here is the part number I've been told, which seems to be different than what has been posted:
51-71-0-017-315

is this correct? if not, what is the correct part number?

(I have a '04 X5 4.4i)
