dead battery
Last night I came back from a 13 day vacation and the X5 was dead in the airport parking lot. Has this happened to other people? I just talked to the dealer service department and all they said was they can have cars in the lot for a month without use and they will start right up and others for a few days and they won't start-big help. After getting the jump and starting home I noticed that for the first 1/2 hour the full tank registered 1/4 full and gradually increased to the proper 3/4 reading. Also the airconditioner was hot for the first 25 minutes and it also started working after a while. Is there some kind of process at work here after a dead battery? Thanks, Fred |

The car was probably trying to charge it back when you were driving it. That might indicate why your gauge took a while to read correctly and why your AC was weak at first, but thats just my guess. But for this very same reason, If I know I can't drive my X for a while, I at least start the car, (or have someone else do it if I'm gone) and leave it running for 20 to 30 mins just to make sure that the car is charging the battery (although it being minimal since the car is not driving). You're not really supposed to leave your car idling for that long but its better then having a dead battery i guess. But your case is obviously different.
