mrbmwx5 - great job!! Question - does that funky round clip attach to anything with your install or did you just drill the hole big enough to get the light to fit snugly??
i just drill the hole and the funky clip fitted in snugly.

Are there any markings showing you where exactly the light goes?
Not that I could tell when I looked at it. That is why I requested a picture from someone that has them factory-installed.

It seems that many of you finding you don't have this light already from the factory are driving 3.0i's. My 2001 4.4i has them already, and mine is not a sport but does have the factory cold weather package and sunroof package.

I remember back in '01 when I bought it that getting a base-model 3.0i up to the standard items in a 4.4i was an upsell on many items, including getting leather seats. I wonder if it was another item left out when the 3.0i's rolled off in S.C?

Seems odd if true, but just a thought

I have this factory installed, but my passenger side light is burnt out. Can that bulb be replaced or is it an LED? Not sure if I want to go through the trouble of taking the door apart yet.

Did you read the entire thread? Some early models didn't have the LEDs mounted but the harness and LEDs are still behind the door panel.
