2002 Bluetooth probs resolved

Hey guys,
Hoo bloody ray, finally got the BT connected and working in my 2002 3.0L., nil nav. Like to thank those who offered to help especially gobbleoff, ca911 & statdoc. The combined info was most helpful along with sniffing around back thru the archives. BTW I confirm that my ULF is OEM. Nil OEM cradle at this stage. Mobile is a Nokia 6500s-1. Nokia's v pop in Aus.
After calling my local BMW stealer & asking him how do I locate and identify my BT passkey, he told me to pop in next Monday, he'd pull apart the centre console plus the ULF and then tell me for a fee. I thought bugger that, I'd have one more crack at it so I removed the ULF from the rear boot fixings, turned it over and 'wollah' there it was, 4 numbers at the top on the BM factory sticker, in amongst a whole bunch of other stuff. Mine #'s thru me cause it was '1500'. Took a guess and I was right.

Following is fairly concise for late 2002 owners. It descibes how I got to activate & engage my BT, not to the letter 'per se' none the less it's now on. ps; enable BT on your mobile (cell) first.
1/ Seat belt NOT ENGAGED....hmmmm
2/ Ig. sw. on - turn radio off. Ig. sw off - remove key.
3/ Prepare & set up mobile phone to search for BT appliance, hold.
4/ Insert key, hold.
5/ Press centre console 'phone button' for 1 to 2 sec, then turn ig. key to pos.1...hold (let go in pos. 1).
6/ Hold 'phone button' for another 3 - 4 seconds, let go..leave key in pos. 1.
7/ Computer screen indicates....'Searching Bluetooth', red, amber & green lights flash next to computer phone sw on the dash.
8/ Activate mobile (cell) phone to search for a Bluetooth device.
9/ After about 10 -20 sec. mobile finds car BT and confirms with 'BMW xxxxx' (letters & numbers). Mine shows BMW 50762.
10/ Phone then asks for pin to engage & activate BMW car phone.
11/ Punch in the 4 digit code & send.
12/ Phone confirms it is connected & paired to car BT.
13/ Wait about 20 seconds (phone is loading info to car) turn ig. sw. off.
14/ Wait about 2 min., turn on the motor with your mobile near by, get your wife to call you from the kitchen and bugger me the phone fires up in the cab. Different ring tone than that to your phone, very clear audio.
15/ Test phone again by ringing out from cab to the wife in the kitchen (god bless her, dinner's nearly ready), connected no worries.

To do: Organise phone book (apparently it was full) etc etc.

BTW followed the above and enabled my wifes Nokia (N 82) straight after, nil probs. Tested both ways, in & out. Apparently one can load up to 4 mobiles. Wow what a machine!!!

Enjoy .
