Rear Air vent to loud

Well i just picked up my 2000 X5 on saturday. When i open up the rear air vent on the console it is extremely loud. Anyone know any ideas to quiet it down a little bit, or is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

I will get some pics up when I get it cleaned up again due to taking delivery during Tropical Storm Hannah, lol.

Of course, there is no way for us to know how loud your vent is, but I will say that I have noticed mine seems loud, too. It stays closed unless there is someone in the back seat.

Lets say that it is as loud as the front fan when it is at max output but the front fan is only on low.

My rear vent fan is loud too. The fan unit itself is located under the centre console beside the handbrake lever. Some fiber wadding placed in the duct behind the vent might quieten it down a bit but will also probably reduce the airflow. The kids don't use the rear vent much so it's too much of a bother for me to do anything about it.

Yep, mine is noticeably loud too, and I hate it enough to keep it shut unless I have rear passengers. I would say that this is "normal" for your fine luxury automobile.

The vent is fairly quiet in my X. I usually have it running wide open all the time to help cool the vehicle faster (every little bit helps in this humidity). The only time I ever hear it is when I turn the front blower down to 1-3 bars.
