sway bar endlink check!

Hey guys, quick question...

X is clunking all the way.. minimum bump on the road - youve got a knock. Searched the web and forums what it might be - possibly sway bar endlink. ,

I turned my wheel maximum left and I have the thing in front of me. I tired to pull it back and forward, hit it with my palm from the bottom but it doesnt seems tom move! So the question is: How could I check (visually, phisicaly) if sway bar endlink is making the sound.

Thank you. As soon as anyone answers, Ill go downstairs and check the solution.
thanks

knocking

had lots of wierd noises from car but last one was a drop link on front of car. how to check? jack up car as normal ,make sure you have an axle stand underneath or something suitable and pull push bar . if it thumps about, bingo ,if not do same on other side, you wouldnt believe the racket coming from these links if they are caput

It's definitely the sway bar end links - I recently had the same problem. They were very tight when the X5 was on the pavement, but clunked like crazy when driving. Check out the link on a thread on this topic below. Welcome to the forum - by the way, my grandparents came to the USA from Lithuania early 1900's!!!

Here's the thread:

Probably the easiest way to know for sure if it is the end links would be to just un-bolt one side from the strut and strap it to the rubber brake hose so it don't flop around, then just drive it up and down the curb at your driveway or whatever makes it clunk a few times. If the noise is still there that's not it, if it mysteriously disappears... that could be it! Happy hunting

The easiest way to diagnose sometimes is process of elimination. But I did have an E39 that I did this to and it ended up being the sway bar making a clicking noise when flexing in the bushings. It's not as common as the end links, but is a cheaper fix. Just take the bushings loose and lube it up where the bar slides through, then try again

good to hear from you. Thanks a lot for the help...
will do the end links next week and wish to end up this thread like : "Ok, done with links, no sound"..

Good look with your cars.

No trust for a local mechanics, so a guy from Lithuania is chats with another few lads from USA about how to fix a car, and they come up to be somehow connected to Lithuania as well Globalization works, egh?
