x5 radio upgrade - newbie

HI all
I have an x5 4.4i 2002 - stereo indash cd- with dsp and "on board computer"
no cd changer in back.

Does anyone if i can upgrade that to a inboard NAV system. and is it worth it.

Second has anyone had success installing a phatnoise device with a dsp stereo.

You can retrofit the NAV but it's not an easy job for a light-hearted person because it involves gutting out your interior and dashboard.
