Now, here is my issue. I have a 2001 X5 4.4 (sport/prem pkg) and have just ran into issues with my passenger side window. The window goes up and down but when the window is brought ALL the way down I cant get it to roll up. It seems that it is trying to come up but does not get passed the rubber moldings between the door frame. I was able to get it up by using a tool to grip the window glass and asist in rolling up while hitting the window switch at the same time. I addition when the window is comming up at about half way there is a quick clicking sound as if it is rubbing against something. I have read some previous threads indicating that it may be the regulator or motor, but really unsure how to properly remove the door pannel to actually check what is going on. Any suggestions? Are there any instructions posted on how to properly remove the door pannel? Thanks |

but if you want a really quick test of the regulator, put both front windows 1/2 way down. Grab the back of the properly working window and pull up & down... feel how tight it is. Then do the same on the problematic side, you will be able to pull it up and down noticeably. That is because the cable that operates it broke out of the plastic clip on the vertical regulator rail. There are DIY instructions for regulator replacement on this site as well if you want to buy the parts and save on the replacement labor costs. Just be careful when removing the foam sheet noted in the instructions as to not tear it, and seal it back as best possible. This is to avoid water getting into your interior. I use a fresh razor blade to help cut the tar when removing.
