Doesn't more than one company make 87 reps?

Do you think that some do need rings and some don't?

I don't know the answer to that. I just wouldn't be surprised if more than one company makes a certain model replica wheel and maybe some are hubcentric, maybe some aren't or maybe all are or all aren't? I don't really know.

I guess it would be easier to help if the OP told us the details on the particular wheels he has such as brand, model and so on.

It just seems to me that there is a trend with people complaining about vibrations after they have installed non-oem aftermarket rims on a BMW. Not saying all will cause this, but it is a common issue.

Yes, more than one company makes the style 87 replicas. Many of the guys on the forum have purchased AFS wheels, mine were a no-brand manufactured in China and sourced thru The Wheel Group in Colorado.

The point of my previous post was that you MUST measure if you're having this particular problem as what's printed on the box may not be what's included in the box. That was my problem - the BOX the wheels came in said that the wheels were cut to 72.56mm when in fact my caliper measured them at the much more "universal" BMW size of 74.1mm.

It doesn't sound like 1.4mm would be enough to throw the wheel off but believe me they were literally-embarrassing to drive down the road with passengers in the car because the wheels wobbled so much.

Ok, that's my 2 cents...good luck!
