I had the same problem after I changed the cv boot. It was the dust shield that I forgot to remove after I broke it using the puller to push out the whole axle.

Sorry, forget to mention the noise was before CV boot replacement and I didn't remove axle when replacing boot, didn't want to mess with wheel bearing, so it's untouched, may be that's the reason of noise? I might be wrong, its very hard to localize the source of noise, but it seems like right side, and cv boot was replaced from left side.

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Check it when you're rolling down a straight and level road, try to move the steering wheel slightly to the right and to the left. If the noise in question changes it's likely the wheel bearing.

Slightly turn right completely eliminates noise, I just love right turns since the problem started, even 2 deegres turn makes my baby silent. How can I diagnose if the bearing is gone?

Don't see why it wouldn't be covered.

Does the noise get higher pitched as you go faster? I have this problem and thought it had to do with my replacement of the drivers side CV boot, but in actuality it was the passenger side front wheel bearing. Orr Autosport in Eden Prairie, MN is going to fix it for $450.
Maybe if it were the summer, I'd try to repair myself, but it's 4 degrees outside and I just don't have the time or energy these days. |
