cant see sat nav display at night!!

Hi Guys

Anybody come across this before?...just bought a 2002 X5 3.0i with the wide screen sat nav which all works perfectly ... except i cant see it at night...the function to switch between night and day works but its not illuminated at all so at night it looks like the monitor is switched off!! Has a bulb blown or is there a setting i can change? I have had BMWs with sat nav before and they all lit up fine at night!!

Thanks for yur help!........

Not sure what you mean by the Day/Night switch, unless you're talking about the fact that the brightness changes when you turn the lights on. I can't find any reference to such a function in my 2005 handbook with the MkIV Nav.

Have you checked the 'Brightness' settings under the 'Set' menu? I assume you had, but just in case...........

What happens when you adjust the brightness of the dash lights (the scroll wheel by the headlamp switch)? That should adjust the brightness of the nav screen as well.

There is no "bulb", per se. It sounds like either your screen unit has gone bad. If there is someone near you with a vehicle with Nav, try swapping screens to see if you can narrow down where the problem is.
