Question cold diesel engine and accelerating question

In the winter i know it takes a while longer for the engine to heat up to optimal temp.

Normally i dont let the engine rev more than 2k RPM till the engine is nice and warm...

If i do try to pass the 2k RPM mark the car basically cant do it..

I was wondering do petrols have this problem too?

Is this a common issue with diesel cars and do the newer models (the face lifted e53 and e70) have this too?
