I know one of our member breytonX5 had done the strut bar install himself.

I had the older model strut bar purchased from BMW dealer installed on the 4.8 by the dealer. As this bar was not designed for the 4.8, there were some "adjustments" required on my particular car: shims/washers had to be fitted between the bar and the shock tower on the driver's side to properly clear the tower (without the washers, there was some clicking audible as things moved around). On the passenger side, some of the plastic on the reservoir had to be trimmed to get the bar onto the tower. All in all, pretty easy stuff for a bar that was not designed for the application. The new bar designed for the 4.8 should certainly be easier to install. I would prefer installing these things myself as there is always the chance of scraping some paint from the tower or from the bar itself and I know that I will be more careful than the grease monkey. Good luck.
