X5 problems after installing the Hitch

I had disconnected the battery to install the hitch. Since connecting the battery back, the fuel gauge is showing at empty all the time(even though I filled up the tank today), the headlights on auto are 'on' even in bright daylight, the phone will drop connection and the radio will not turn back on for a while.

Anybody else experience this?

BTW, I took lot of pics during the install and will do a write up with more pics than Mr. Bill Barnes. There were couple of steps missing there.
And thanks to X5world as myself and Chefwong teamed up to install the hitch together on their X5s.

I would try disconnecting the battery for a period of time and then reconnecting it to see if the problems still persist.

Make sure your new wiring didn't screw up anything else. The X5's are very sensitive to electrical issues .. good luck

I disconnected the battery for 2 hours and reconnected and its still doing the same. The first time I start after connecting the battery the temp gauge needle keeps going from left to right and back in a quick motions.

Does the dealer need to reset something on computer after the hitch module?

No.

Does the problem go away if you remove the hitch module?

It may have to do with disconnecting/reconnecting the batt! check with the dealer to see if there is a specific procedure when reconnecting the batt? puzzling!! this is the only thing I can think of other than what is mentioned above!
