PDC ?

My X has the PDC System. When I put it in reverse it lets one long beep out and that is it. I have only ever heard it beep when something was behind it once. And it only let one beep out not a lot like i imagine it should. The front has never beeped at all when pulling up to something slowly. Am I going to fast or doing something wrong? Or is the system just not work? Thanks in advance.

Check to see if there is some dirt on any of the sensors.

try making sure that the system is on (press the PDC button near the rear hatch button and make sure it is lit) and have someone walk around the car and see if it makes the tones, one long beep means you are very close to something.

Only way to be sure that it is working is to test each sensor but typically you should hear shorter beeps that get faster until you get to the long beep

When I put it in reverse the light on the PDC button flashes. And i get one long beep everytime i put it in reverse and most of the time there is nothing behind me like backing out of a driveway.

I think you have a bad sensor. I had one go out and you are describing the symptom I had. Figuring out which one is the hard part. My dealer took care of it as it happened while under warranty.
