Need Oil Change...

10K miles since I purchased my 2006 X5.

The maintenace countdown is nowhere near indicating an oil change.

However, I believe I read that the oil should be changed at least once a year.

So,

even though the computer doesn't indicate it yet, will the dealer do the oil change under that maintenance plan without the indicator?

I'm not sure but maybe if you have a very good relationship with your dealer he/she might do it.

If it has been 12 months, or is within 500 miles they will do it under maintenance.

yup, they will do it under warranty if its already 12 months since the last time you had an oil change.

Not under warranty, but quite likely under the maintenance plan. It really depends on the dealer, some will and some won't.

When I picked up each of my current new vehicles I signed a delivery slip that said I understood that I was not entitled to an oil service until the service lights indicated it. That said, my dealer will do it at 14 months.

I'm curious as to how many lights have gone out? I had the oil service light reset about 3-4 months ago when the oil was changed and put on about 4K but all 5 lights are still showing.

Wondering if there is something wrong with the computer.

Thanks.

You're in kilometers, so the first light will go out in another 1000 km or so.

Yes it will be done under the standard maintenance plan/warranty, there is an SIB that BMW issued calling for annual oil changes. Just be sure to tell them NOT to also reset the indicator, because sometimes they will do it inadvertently.

Even at the truly crummy stlr(s) I had to use, they always did an annual
oil change for me, without beefing. If it's been a full 12 months since the
last recorded oil change, under Maintenance, they should...if it hasn't been
a year, I suspect they will tell you to keep driving.
GL,mD

Edit, and agree with mgruber above, to not reset lights; it allows you to
chase down that Insp 1 sooner.
