Coming off of CPO

Hello,

I have a 2002 X5 with 93,000 miles that has had all factory maintenance done and it is coming off of CPO warranty on the 29th of this month.

I would like to schedule an appointment to have it looked over, however is there anything in particular I should have checked out? What do I tell the BMW dealer to do? Just look it over and fix whats covered under CPO?

Thanks!

Pretty much. But if i were you i would specifically have them look at the parts that are known to be prone to fail AND are expensive to fix. From my own experience that is the suspension air bags, suspension computer and compressor under the spare wheel, wheel speed and height sensors, CV boots on the front wheels that crack.

One thing to keep in mind is that any part that is replaced by BMW has a two year parts warranty on it, so ideally they replace everything under CPO two minutes before your CPO runs out and then you have a "free" warranty on those parts for two years.

There are several things that can and will fail at your mileage range that are not covered under "regular maintenance," and they will probably not replace until they actually fail, but you can bet they will soon.

Separator
water pump
thermostat

The tstat and separator are essentially consumable parts by design, and OEM waterpump failures are well documented.
