Doh !!! added water to coolant need advise.
There was a small amount visible in the reservoir. I thought I could just add water . Which I did. Should have read up first . Now I read it should be distilled water and coolant mixture. Will I be ok to drive 200 miles (Saturday) and then bleed the system and re-add the proper coolant mixture. Thanks. P.P.S is it easy to bleed . |

Uh..well. 200 miles is probably too far. I would definitely not risk it. Just do this instead. Go to the auto part store get coolant thats already mixed with water and pour that stuff in to the proper amount. Then you should be fine..

How much water did you add? If it was a less than a pint-ish,
to top up the reservoir, I would not sweat it.

motordavid. It sounds like he barely has any coolant what so ever in the resevoir. If thats the case..considering all he has in the coolant tank is water..thats probably not good right?

If it there was some fluid still in the overflow reservior then topping up with straight water shouldn't dilute it too much. If you need to top up again make sure it's straight antifreeze (of the correct type). Also if you need to top it up again I'd get it checked out.

Tap water is fine, I have never used distilled water. Add coolant next time and you will even the mix out.

You're fine.
You do not need to use distilled water. However I would add some coolant that is 100 to the mix to balance it off |
