ICELink US Availability

Does anyone know if the ICE Link iPOD adaptor for a 2005 X5 with Nav is still available anywhere...the Denison USA site says that they have "severed their relationship" with Denison Audio. Will the units for sale on European models work with US models?

Any idea what a reasonably price would be for a full installation (not a DIY guy).

Thanks!

This relationship was severed a very long time ago. You can still obtain some Ice>Link PLus (ILP) kits on eBay at times, these are liquidated/open box kits that have been floating around since 2005 and have zero support. The final production run have the most reported issues.

We've been integrating iPods into BMWs for going on 6 years, we've seen everything out there. The DICE kits will offer all the same features as the previous ILP and more - backed with reliability and support.

I have an IceLink unit that I no longer use that I am willing to part with. PM me if interested.

What exactly does the IceLink do, and what does it look like, where does it install?

The ILP was replaced by the DICE kits back in 2005. This is the kit we recommend for X5s:

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for X5 00-06 (Trunk Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1631

The DICE iPod Kit will integrate perfectly with your BMW and offer steering wheel control as well as ID3 text and charging of your iPod. Full CD Quality can be expected after installation. There's even an integrated AUX port for other devices.

New features of DICE SILVERLINE iPod Integration kit include:

- Direct integrated connection, without the need for FM transmitters or cassette adapters
- Full Text Display on your factory radio or Navigation screen
- Full control of your iPod via the radio buttons while in play
- Browse by Individual Song
- Browse by Individual Playlist
- Browse by Individual Albums
- Source Selector w/ Integrated AUX input
- Album Selection
- Full charging mode for iPods through included dock connector

The kit will come with everything needed w/ the docking cable. The iPod can be safely stored away in the glove compartment for 100% stealth installation and accessed completely from the steering wheel controls. The DICE comes with a 15-foot cable length to reach anywhere in the vehicle you like.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Tom G, Thanks.....

...I actually tried to research this before posting by checking the X5 World folder on iPod issues and the chart of possibilities mentioned only the ICE Link, not the DICE option. So much for searching before you post!

I am in Chicago ... any idea of where I can get a DICE unit installed here and how much it should cost?

This is a DIY job for you or your local audio install. Install time is less than an hour.

Tom....

...if I order the model you mentioned, will I lose my trunk-mounted CD changer? Thanks very much for all your help with this.
