Sirius Problem (PLEASE HELP)

OK, Here's what I've got:
-2003 X5 3.0 w/ NAV v.29
-Radio (factory) BM53 with flat pins
-Software Version 28-02-81
-Sirius Receiver 65120416377

I used the audio extension cables and BMW antenna... everything fit together like a snap but when I press the MODE button on my radio the SIRIUS option does not show????

Any suggestions? Have I missed something? I tried to follow all of the previous posts to be sure I did not skip and details and I'm at a loss.

Walk through the steps again. Mode should show SAT option also.

Thanks noncom23 for your prompt reply and the link to the instructions.

I pulled the tuner and it is part number 65.12.6.933.089
Is this OK? Or is the software the important factor?

I've gone over the install 3 more times. I've bypassed the CD changer and still no luck.

I'm really at a loss here... I'm new to the board and thanks to all who have posted instructions; but this dummy just can't seem to make it work......

Yeah Tom's been giving me therapy :-)

So, I went to my local dealer. They kept the car and said all electronics, diag etc check out OK!

And I'm not a complete moron...everything was installed correctly.

Fuse was not blown.

But the consensus is my vehicle is NOT sirius ready??? Something about the NAV+TAPE combination is not compatible.

On a brighter note they were a bit flustered about this issue too and will be removing everything, putting the rear back together and refunding me the parts costs as well as not charging me for any of the time...Thanks BMW!

I myself feel it is only the BM53 that is not compatible but I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth.....

All X5s with NAV are cassette equipped - that's not the issue.

Where in CA are you located? If near our facility - I can take a look myself.

A bit of a drive since we're in Santa Ana - about 10 minutes from Disneyland.
