Automatic Recirculation Control: Does anyone use this?

Most likely your microfilter needs replacing. Check out this link on how to replace it, if you want a DIY.

Change the filter. I am sure the sensor could go bad and system could fail , but the filter is hopefully your problem. I just recently changed mine and it made a difference.
