passenger side window lock not work

hello,

i have a 2003 4.4i. The driver side control will operate the driver side windows and the back passenger side window, but not the passenger side front window. Yet the passenger side door switches both front and back will operate their repsective windows. Also, neigther of the power locks on the passenger side will operate with the center lock switch.

How can I trouble shoot this?

I have already removed the driver side switch and it appears that all connections are fine and being it's a micro-board switch unit, theres seemingly no mechanical aspects that could be dirty or corroded. This unit is pricy, so if there are ways to determine if the problem is else where I'd like to start there.

Also, how do the power locks work? Are the direct-wire connected or are they remote controlled from the center switch?

Anyone know of any wire schematics of these features to review?

thanks for any advise

passenger door

Hi,

I have the same problem that also occurred yesterday. The electric mirror is also not functioning.

I would be grateful for any ideas on how to solve. All fuses are ok.

The drivers side windows controls simply slide out of the door. Use a flat screwdriver a pry it out. On the back are 3 wiring harnesses. Check the connections, also I would check my fuses.

How did you fix it? Funny but I have the exact simptoms. Mirror doesn't operate, I have to lock the passenger door manually and I'm able to open the window just from the passenger switch and not from the main one on driver side.

I ended up taking it to a local BMW shop (not the dealer) driver side switch control unit replaced, passenger side switch control replaced (loc control part of this unit), back passenger side loc control replaced. Also had corrosion issue with wire harness, but mechanic spliced to fix instead of new harness. Glad I took it in, I would have been working on this forever only to save a couple hundred bucks all said and done. These parts are pricy and I would not want to make use of used parts for this use.

I'm having the same problem. Just replaced the door handle assembly. Now where does the power lock wiring plug into. I can't seem to find out where to plug it in. Can you help?

The "online WDS" link at the top center of the page is a wiring schematic. But keep in mind it is NOT a 12 volt switched signal, but a can bus signal... so you can NOT use a test light to check anything really on a BMW other than maybe the cig lighter socket.

If you know someone else with an X5, then swap switches for a minute for testing. Nothing works better for diagnosis then switching with a known good part
