I installed remote start on both my 740iL and the X5. My only issue with the X5 is that I had to install a transponder in order to make it work. With the X5 it automatically ignores any remotes programmed to it once a key is inserted in the ignition. With that being said, the transponder fools the car into thinking the key is inserted into the ignition so the doors or trunk will not open with the key remote while the X is running after being started with the remote start. I did not install a full alarm on the X5 because I like that the factory system has the deadbolt lock feature and the interior motion sensor. So for now I have disconnected my remote start system until I decide what I really want to do to remedy this.

There's always the BMW OEM solution...

The Webasto auxillary heat exchanger... it pulls fuel from your fuel tank, burning it to heat your coolant, which then runs through your heater core and heats the cabin. A significant drain on the battery (BMW recommends a AGM battery be installed)... but a unique option not offered in the US!

Just the retrofit fit is over $1500 list... then there's the install.

I know how you feel. It bugs me when people jump in with comments completely unrelated the thread. You know, like you!

PS: Punctuation and capitalization help too. This isn't a cell phone text message.
