Well I am using the Peripheral device and it states that you cannot program the R/T button, but I programmed every single button on the left side of the wheel to work with my Alpine IVA-D901. The R/T button is programmed as my mode buttton and the one phone button is programmed as a mute.

But in order for the PAC or Peripheral device to work you cannot have the BMW handsfree module connected, it recieves signal from the wire comming from the steering wheel which you cut in order to connect to the module.

There is no kit for it and unless it came with the NAV installed you will have to do some cutting to get it to fit...

Steering Wheel Controls on X5

OK so here are the promised pics. Needless to say I'm very happy with the work by the Highline Car Audio guys here in Denver. Other than the headrest monitors which are cut in they made it so that the Pioneer AVIC Z3 can be pulled out and the factory unit can be placed back in.

They customized the mounting bracket and the surround so that the radio sits down in a little to help with glare and to be able to keep the flip down woodgrain piece that used to cover the stock CD player.

There are headrest monitors with wireless headphones that can be used for the DVD movies while the head unit is listening to Sirius etc...and not they didn't do the damage on the leather it was there when I got the X5 used....

They got a micro camera and I asked them to place it in the middle of the BMW emblem. This thing is so freaking small and has such a great picture it's ridiculous especially at night.

Yeah they tried to talk me into placing the backup camera somewhere else but that is the only place that I thought it really wouldn't be noticeable.

Yes the bezel was custom built to mold around the flip down wood trim cover (which actually helps with the glare a little too while flipped up).

I'm a very happy customer. We just need to get these steering wheel controls figured out.

Oh and Silver I talked to them on this and they already have the PAC module installed but had left the BMW bluetooth enabled per my request so they are going to look into disabling this and configuring the steering wheel controls to work with the Pioneer.

Thanks again for the help.

Nice looking job...I don't want to compare apples and oranges but I have an Eclipse head unit AVN7000 and the PAC controls work perfectly in my X even with my (modded) E46 M3 SMG steering wheel.
