2000 X5 Engine, Software, General Questions

Couple yrs ago my engine died, we do not know what caused it but I had to buy a used engine to replace, overall it costed close to 12k to get the X back on road.

I got everything fixed here in Indianapolis at a indy shop who specialize in foreign luxury cars only, they are very famous and been around for sometime. "Petes", anyway, so far so good, knock on wood. from the day one I noticed that when I start the X it sounds like a diesel engine, it does not vibrate or anything but it just makes that noise which feels like a diesel engine is on its kind of hard to explain the noise so i will just say clicking kuta, uta kuta, only a expert eyers can hear them.

I took it back to Petes couple of times and the tech says it typical noise for X, i tried others and they seem more quiter, more stiff vs mine, mine feels like tired, not so crisp, it runs fine and good but I am not stisfied.
we got a used engine with 45k miles and it was 2001, still using the same tranny, original miles 122k, changed the engine at 103k.

should i take it to bmw dealership and need to get some software updates, or anything, what do i need to do. pleaase advise the only thing i do is to get the oil change every 7k miles(synthetic).

Thanks

just posted a new thread about the same thing. it sounds like a worn out diesel. can you notice the noise on a particular side of the engine?
