Engine Block Coolant Drain Plug (3.0 Engine)

Blue coolant eh?does it have to be bmw or can I use an off the shelf ethylene glcol based one to top up?I did read somewhere it is not good to mix brands, but have also seen on some product labels that it is safe to mix with existing coolant....my x5 is diesel and the coolant is blue too, is it the same for all x5 s?

i need help...in the midddle of coolant change and thermostate replacement...cant find the engine block plug for coolant....any help ?? and pictures??

Same in all bmw's, and might as well just pass by the dealer and pick up a gallon or 2 rather than autozone as while they all use the same ingredients, they are at different levels and compositions.
