Angry x5 died

So I was driving home tonight, and I was pulling up to an intersection went to accelerate a little bit but NOTHING happened freaked out a little bit so I went to hit the brakes and they were locked. The X died on me then it managed to just STOP in the middle of the intersection I was crossing. I put my hazard lights on and remained calm just pressed on the brake pedal as hard as possible and put the shifter into Park then restarted and it was fine, so I pulled into a parking lot and did the 3 minute key reset unsure if that did anything. Restarted and was driving home when all my Brake, ABS, lights lit up which has happened quite a few times but my brakes are a fairly new and have always worked during it. Luckily I have my inspection tomorrow with my indy so I will get everything wrong fixed but I am pretty freaked.

Scary!!

Hate to sound stupid but I keep hearing this term "Indy" on this forum.... What is meant by that? I assume it has something to do with a mechanic but what exactly?

The X5 has a common problem.

It turns off when the car is turned to the left hard. It just dies and all the lights come on. Have to put the car back in park and start it back up.

This is a common problem. No fix. No known reason for what causes it

This was happening to me ALL the time!! It drove me crazy. It started only when i was in parking lots turning sharply and going slow. then it happened on a few slow turns on actual road ways. Then U-turns. I went to the stealers and they couldnt replicate the problem. I ignored it for awhile, then it happened to me one time i was in traffic. dealer finally said I needed to replace fuel pump and fuel filter. right after i got it out of the shop i filled up gas and it happened AGAIN. I was furious after i paid all that money.

Finally, I mentioned it to a friend of mine who works in the sales department. He told me it might have something to do with the Ethanol they have in gas nowadays, because of an uneven mixture. I don't know how true that is, but I started using Shell V-power only (because of all the detergents and crap they put in it, it supposedly creates a better/more even 'mixture'), and the problem is gone! So ya, now i only use shell v-power. it might cost a bit more but its definately worth it.

I never had that happen.

I was getting misfire codes in my Prelude for a while. Switched to Shell V-Power and they went away.
