Mine had a rough idle with 7k on the clock and turned out to be a bad crankcase breather. Since the crankcase breather was replaced, the truck is good as new. I have about 9k now. |

Bruce, well, I did fit into the "lemon category", had an awful time with problems on a '05 3.0. BMW replaced the vehicle, and now no probelms 2000 miles later. Unfortunately, there is nothing worse than problems re-occuring, and I always thought these were isolated cases, however when it affects you, it is not so great. Take delivery and see how it goes, it is an awesome car, and you will have tons of good times.
Cheers,

What problems did you have? How did you get them to replace it? Did you use a leamon-law in your state? How many miles did it have when they replaced it? I assume you have been "watching" for the problems to re-occur.. has this ruined your enjoyment of the vehicle?

used 2001 4.4 - by checking the posts on this website, I found and had corrected most of the possible problems ( hood alarm switch, coolant hoses, tailgate rattle, etc ) - granted, some vehicles out there are almost bulletproof - but the shear joy I get from driving my X5 more than offsets any effort to keep it in top form - besides it being one of the safest vehicles to be in ( as posted recently by some of us )

Youre going to find more problems with ANY newer model vehicle, Doesnt matter what it is..Japanese, German, etc..Look at 97 Accords, 00-01 X5's, 2001 Pathfinders..All had/have more problems than later models and/or versions..BMW are beautiful cars, but just talk to 85% of E90 owners..If they are Bimmer virgins, they will all say that BMW's are the worst cars ever made....

National Hwy and Traffic Saftey Association (NHTSA) said: "Safest car ever built". That's enough for me, beside you fall in love with the way BMW's drive and handle. It's truely the Ultimate Driving Machine (you'll always hear that but won't know what it means till you own one). Good luck.

Had mine for 5 months, and all I have had to do is put fuel in it and clean it weekly. Besides that 6,500 k's and loving evry minute of it!
