Transmission Woes - Same as others???

So I've been flirting with the concept that my tranny is having some issues. It started off feeling like the transmission didn't know what gear to be in when it was on the cusp of a shift point. For example, hanging around 40 or 45 it seemed to bounce a bit between two gears not sure which it wanted to be in. I thought to me it was trying to anticipate my aggressive driving and already have me in a lower gear for acceleration. I had nearly chalked it up to the adaptive transmission and decided to not worry.

Friday it got a little worse and started to stick in the lower gear. Today it got much worse and I noticed the same indecisive behavior at highway speeds when holding steady at a relatively constant speed. To boot, it wouldn't go up to 5th gear. Even in sport mode! I push it and the light shows 5 for a second then drops back to 4.

Headed to the stealer today/tomorrow to drop it off but wanting to be prepared. It's an '03 4.4 with 64,900 miles. If I truely have a tranny issue I think a call to BMW is in order. A fair number of you have raised tranny issues but we all seem to have a slight different variation of symptoms so not sure if this rings a bell for someone or not.

Thoughts?

The stealer just called.... not a programming issue. Apparently they believe it's a wiring problem with the internal harness. Ouch... Good thing is BMW is covering it.

05, 4.4 34,000 same issue. Also, I had a little "thump" from first to second. Dealer changed transmission fluid and it got worse....A couple days later and a new "re built" trans was installed.
