As fast as I could go on HWY 80 east

I got it up to 165-170 twice on HWY 80 heading east from Reno, NV to Park City, UT for close to a minute each time before I came up on slower traffic. I will admit that did make my butt pucker a little bit! But it sure was fun...............

165-170 in a BMW???? What kind of work have you had done one it? I know my 740iL is limited at 155mph and while in Germany I hit that numerous times, but once the car exceeds 130mph it does not like to stop. Most of the M3's I would run with were limited at 128mph and a friend of mine with a suped up E46 with limiter removed maxed out at 162mph. As for the X I have barely hit 100mph, hopefully I get a chance to get it back to Germany so I can really open her up.

In a 5 series I've hit 160, but with the X I'm really incapable of going beyond 110. I have no idea why, but I just can't.

It's not because it's an S(A/U)V, 'cause I've done it in a Yukon but surprisingly the X is just different. I guess no hitting the good ol' 170 in the X anytime soon. I wanted to try it just to see when it locks out but.. I didn't.

Oh well, hooray for safety especially after seeing a few of those "Do not speed!" documentries in hospitals and such.

Most vehicles are electronically speed limited according to the speed rating of the stock tires that they came with.

You sure you were limited by the engine/ software and not wind resistance, especially with a 3.0???

Weasel will become famous soon enough
My 4.6is handles like a dream with the cruise control set at 145, and still had room to go. I had my cop friend with me and he was mad I handles better at 150 than the cruiser does at 50! I too wand to reprogram the X, but my dealer is no longer a dinan authorized dealer... So the next nearest dinan dealer is Texas...
