That sucks. I wouldn't be friends with that fool anymore. If his insurance doesn't cover it I'd definitely stop being his friend for sure. From the front end..The car is totaled. IF an insurance company was to cover it, they'd have to cover you for the worth of the vehicle (value of the car before the wreck obviously). Sorry about your X man. This just reassures me why i dont let anyone drive my car. Ever. I don't even let family members drive my car.

The insurance thing seems odd, my insurance will cover if I drive someone else's car and it will also cover in the event another person is driving my car.

sorry about the X, I lost my first delorean in 1988 to a friend that rolled it. I was lucky he paid cash for a replacement which I still have today.

ouch!!!

You're about to find out what kind of freindship you have. My buddy drove my Conv. Eldorado into a boulder. He took care of everything. Hopefully yours will step up.

Unreal... Don't know what the insurance laws are in Canada, here most people have coverage for "un insured motorist"

I think auto insurance in Canada is different. I think Canada has "no fault" auto insurance companies.

The big question is if this so-called friend has his own insurance.

Having been in your friend's situation (I wrote off my friend's Rally car) - the only option is for him to stand up and pay you for damage/replacement - if he is insured then great, but if not then he should stick his hand in his pocket.

As they say in rallying circles, if you bend it you mend it!

And if doesn't, then ask the judge to ask him to put his hand in his pocket.
