I just came back from the dealer not too long ago. My SA seems to understand but he did not want to take a look at it in the dark. He told me to come back during the day tomorrow. I told him I can't because I work so he told me to come back Saturday to meet with the service manager. He basically made an appointment for me and told me the sm will be expecting me. I was also asked if it can be buffed. I said yes. I just hope I am not wasting my time.

I got my x5 with a scratch on the rear bumper one time. I didn't notice until the next day. I called the dealer after to tell him that they had scratched my x5 because this wasn't there before. He simply told me that they couldn't do anything about it because I had already tooken it home. So he would not fix it. I've never really had a good relationship with any of the dealers in my area anyways.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Sometimes shit happens, and it only shows the character of they people at hand in the dealer in how they deal with it... From the sound of it the tech probably had a jacket on and didn't use a fender cover to protect from the zipper... tisk tisk! But they should have no problem sending it to the detail shop to get buffed out. Maybe you'll get a free detailing out of it, wax and all!

I was thinking about the same thing yesterday as I stood by the fender outside in the cold.

Thanks man. Not really sure what they are going to end up doing but I'm glad I said something.

A dealer damaged / tor a rip in my dash whilst relacing the centre vent a couple of months ago. I didnt notice the hair line split until I got home. Called the dealer up the next day (I've used the same dealer for the last 10 years / 6 cars). They wouldn't admit to being responsible but DID replace it with a whole new dash. I asked them what the bill would of been and he said approx £1,000 for the part and then 1 day of full labour, approx £1,500. They absorbed the lot (£2,500 / $4,000).

I was happy

You should definatly take it back to them, if they won't admit or do anything about it then take it further, speak with BMW corporate customer service, they may put the pressure on to prevent an un-happy BMW customer
