Airbag Light

Quick question.... Had all the seats out my X running some wiring for my stereo.... It got dark so I just started up the X and pulled her back in the garage for the night. The next morning I pulled her back out and after finishing up my work put all the seats back in my X.

Now the Airbag light remains on.... Is this something I will have to take to the dealer to get reset or is there a way I can do it myself...

Weasel will become famous soon enough
The light is going to be on for the "drivers seatbelt pretensioner, firing circuit" since you had the seat out and turned the key on, and I don't know of any way of resetting it without the GT1 or DIS+ at the dealer.

I'd call the local dealers and tell them the situation and ask how much they would charge for a quick reset. Maybe they will help you out, but likely a half hour charge...

Hey thanks! Ithought that would be the case.... I will be taking it in for servicing soon so I will just wait until then to have it done.... I guess I should go ahead and change out my door speakers before doing so to prevent having to take it back to them.

I have the Carsoft 6.5 and this one takes care of these things. I had the same issue after my ''nav - install''.

Carsoft is available on fleebay.....

Might as well, but usually if you leave the key off you don't get the light. But I know thats not always the case...

If you disconnect the battery before doing the unplug, and keep the battery disconnected as long as the seat is unplugged, will prevent the activation of the light..........

I found it easier to fork out for the carsoft for these situations as I very often do ''testing'' whilst some of the stuff is disconnected.....

Yet again, I had never heard of the carsoft.... If I didn't work at the dealer I would buy a laptop just for that!

I agree but my problem came from me starting the X up so I could move it in to the garage... I guess I could have left it outside for the night but I did not expect that to happen.... I had the seats out numerous times in my E32 without experiencing this. Now I know, thinking about getting the code reader but just may let the dealer reset this since I have to get the servicing in a few hundred more miles

a normal code reader does not sort out your ''airbag light''. You need a more specialized tool like carsoft, or the type of stuff they use @ the $tealer..... Which cost ''an arm and a leg..''
